Best Way to Memorize

There are different types of learners in this world and we as human beings have different skills and capabilities. In terms of cognitive aspect, whether you are memorizing the dates in your History Class or the full name of the scientists who invented this and that, chemical symbols in the Periodic table, all you need to do is to memorize!

But most of are having a hard time memorizing. So, my question is… What is the best way to memorize?

1. Find a comfortable place.

Whether it is in your own room, library or coffee shop, find a place where you can relax and concentrate.

2. Record it.

If you have your mobile phone with you, you can record it and listen to it while you’re on the road. This method is effective for auditory learners!

3. Associate.

You can create a story with the things you memorize, example: Fe = Iron. Mrs. Fe needs more iron! Be creative in associating things for you to not forget it easily! You can even make a song! How? Make your favorite song as the tune to memorize it!

4. Acronym method.

This method is effective if you are memorizing a lot of words, especially for medical students. Example: CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). You can write it down first, then repeat it for 5 times until you can remember it with proper spelling and understand its meaning.

5. Repeat it!

If you can repeat it on your head when you are walking or just sitting down, just remember to give time for it. You can read it multiple times for you to remember it.

6. Listen to your friends.

When people around you were reviewing, try to listen and answer them in your mind. It will help you to remember things and test what you have memorized!

7. Highlighting.

This is one effective way to remember important points in your paper. This will help you to remember where it is located! If you are a visual learner, this will be helpful for you.

8. Test yourself.

You can have a test thru online that is in a multiple choice format. You can also create your own set of questions or repeat what you have memorized to other people.

9. Give yourself a break.

Don’t stress yourself too much, learn to take breaks and relax your mind for a short time.

10. Find a partner to study with.

It is more likely to be fun and exciting to memorize if you have a partner. You can ask questions, test each other and correct them if they are wrong.

These are just a few tips to memorize easily. It may not be easy for you but, learning each day will give you a resistance and make your mind stronger than ever.
