5 Bible Verses To Help You Become An Effective Leader
LEADERSHIP & MOTIVATION | 5 MIN READ
In every aspect of our lives, there is a leader. In our school or work, in our communities and even in our churches A LEADER IS ALWAYS PRESENT. But what does it take to become an effective leader? Here are 5 Bible verses to guide you in becoming an effective leader.
1. MATTHEW 20:26 “Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.”
Before you become a leader to others you must first learn how to be a follower. We do not have the right to lead if we ourselves cannot follow others. May it be those who are higher or lower than us, if what they are doing is right, then they should be followed. Following others is every leader’s training ground.
2. MARK 10:45 “For even the son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Leaders are hailed not to be pampered or be given any special treatment by his subordinates. Leaders are in their position to serve those who proclaimed him to his position. Being a leader is about service.
3. PROVERBS 16:12 “Kings detest wrongdoing, for a throne is established through righteousness.”
To lead you must have integrity in everything that you do. Yes, temptations are everywhere but keep in mind what you are and the core principles rooted in you. Keeping your integrity intact will eventually lead to much greater things, not only for you but for your followers as well.
4. PHILIPPIANS 2:3 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.”
Similar to bible verse #2, if your main objective in becoming a leader is for your own selfish reasons, then this is not the role for you. You prioritize the needs of your followers rather than your own. THAT’S A HOW A LEADER SHOULD BE.
5. JAMES 4:10 “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
To be given the title of a leader is a great privilege. But to become an effective leader, you must learn how to be humble. There’s a tendency for others to brag their title and have a sense of entitlement over others. You must keep your feet on the ground and remember to listen to what your subordinates are saying since you live to serve them.
We hope that these bible verses enlightened you. May you use these verses as a guide to becoming the leader you are destined to be.
